Tele-actress Semini Iddamalgoda has explained her ideas to a weekend newspaper saying that the media is responsible for the break-up of most families of those connected to acting in Sri Lanka.
Though she has not explicitly mentioned that so-and-so's family broke-up because of such and such a media when expressing this idea, she had made this allegation on a broad basis inferring that that responsibility lies on the shoulders of the media.
When questioned about having her hair cut in the recent past she replied that it was done not for a reason connected to the Arts and because she wanted to put her hair in order because it was hopeless-looking. When being questioned briefly, she expressed the following ideas:
Do you dedicate yourself to your acting?
I get ready for the role I have to play. I change myself to justify the character I portray. Other than that I don't do anything so as to say that I dedicate myself.
Then why did you cut your hair?
I cut my hair about 3 years ago ..... I cut my hair not as a dedication for a role that I had to play .... because my hair looked hopeless. I wanted to give it a good look. In that same period I got a role which fitted with that look of mine. That's all.
Do you have enough time for domestic activities?
Before I became an actress I did all that ..... but now I don't have time ..... but servants have been engaged to attend to work with my husband and daughter. It is I who direct them for each particular duty in such cases.
Haven't you faced problems of too much work?
My family is very suitable. As such, problems can't be created because of external factors, much work or for stories and rumors.
Why do you think many problems cropped up in most families of those connected to acting in the past?
Whatever problem cropped up in whoever's family, what I think is that the media is responsible fr the break-up of most families.
