Sakvithi Ranasinghe who was a most prominent tuition-businessman, imprisoned for financial fraud had to a appear in courts for allegations of multiple marriages. He admitted in another rape case that he was responsible for having raped his wife while she was 14 years old.

According to information revealed by Sakvithi in this court case, he admitted guilt for his multiple marriages as well as raping his wife while she was still a minor. As reported, the incident is as follows:

Sakvithi Ranasinghe had first married a woman by the name of Subashini de Silva Ariyaratna. She was married to him at a time when Sakvithi began his business as a tuition master.

Sakvithi Ranasinghe disclosed in courts that he conducted many tuition classes at the time he was popular and that he also conducted group classes to teach English.

He said that his present wife was a girl who attended his classes and that he had romantic ideas about her. He further exposed that at the time he carried on the affair with her, she was only 14 years of age.

Sakvithi said that the affair went too far and that he had sexual relationships with her and that she became pregnant. As there was no other alternative at that time, he left his wife and started living
with Kumari Anuradini.

As such, it has now been revealed that he committed a sexual offence on Kumari Anuradini in the year 1998 in Mount Lavinia area. Subsequently he made her his wife while there was also a complaint that he had abducted Kumari Anuradini from the guardianship of her father J.Ariyaratna.

Whatever it is, he had legally married Kumari when she had become a major. Since he had entered into matrimony secretly without separating from his legal wife, the complainant party said that it was an illegal act.

Two children were born after Sakvithi Ranasinghe got married to Kumari Anuradini and it was during this period that he became a millionaire. Though he indulged in financial fraud and was hiding, itwas while he was in the company of Kumari Anuradini that he finally got cornered by the police.

Last January Sakvithi Ranasinghe admitted in High Court, Colombo of being guilty to the offence of entering into another marriage while his legal wife was still living. As such, he was penalised for two and a half years of imprisonment, apart from the offence of financial fraud.

Sakvithi Ranasinghe admitted guilty for having raped his present wife while she was a minor, according to another legal allegation.

As he had committed this rape while she was under 16 years, he was responsible for the offence of committing a sexual crime on a minor. Leaving time to decide on the penalty for this offence, further hearing was put off till next 8th July.
